It has been consistently designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute since 1973, one of 41 such Centers in the United States. Dedicated to innovative and compassionate cancer care, the center consists of its clinical program, research, education, community outreach and a continued pursuit to treat, comfort and cure those patients suffering from this condition.

With the unparalleled care and research of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, specifically Dr. Marmarelis and her team, Steve fought hard to make the most of the 14 months after his diagnosis. He valiantly endured targeted therapy, chemotherapy, radiation, multiple surgeries and other medical treatments. He kept his spirit and positivity and lived every moment to the fullest and was a hero to many.
