The organization, founded in 1866, was the first humane society established in North America and is dedicated to shaping a society that continuously improves the lives of animals.
Wounded Warrior Project
The Wounded Warrior Project aims to help injured service members aid and assist each other by providing unique, direct programs to meet their individual needs. Programs include: Combat Stress Recovery which addresses the mental health and cognitive needs of warriors returning from war; the Independence Program, designed for warriors who rely on their family or caregivers as a result of moderate-to-severe brain injury, spinal-cord injury, or other neurological conditions; Family Support; Transition Training; and the Warrior Care Network, connecting veterans to academic medical centers that can address undiagnosed and untreated mental health issues suffered from the travesty of war.
