Rory opened those windows to the students who were fortunate to have been under her tutelage.

Above all else she was dedicated to her family, a true matriarch in every sense of the word. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her and shared in her journey.

Founded in 1999 in memory of Marc Lustgarten, The Lustgarten Foundation was established to advance research related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of pancreatic cancer while raising public awareness and providing support for patients and their families. Initially considered an orphan disease, the National Cancer Institute allocated only $16.2 million for research into pancreatic cancer. With the Lustgarten Foundation not only providing new sources of funding awarded to innovative researchers, but also raising awareness, the National Cancer Institute now dedicates more than $150 million annually toward finding a cure.
