Sheri lived life with an open mind and an open door. She surrounded herself with beautiful company, both two-legged and four, and greeted all with enthusiasm and a smile. She will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known her.

Puppies Behind Bars

Puppies Behind Bars (PBB) is a national organization that trains prison inmates to raise service dogs for wounded war veterans and first responders, as well as explosive-detection canines for law enforcement. Puppies enter prison at the age of 8 weeks and live with their inmate puppy-raisers for approximately 24 months. As the puppies mature into well-loved, well-behaved dogs, their raisers learn what it means to contribute to society rather than take from it.

Anyone who knew Sheri also knew she held a special place in her heart for dogs. She innately understood them and dedicated her time to sharing that connection with others through the Puppies Behind Bars program at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility. All donations to PBB made in Sheri’s memory will be directed specifically to the EMCF to help them continue this mutually and socially beneficial program.
