Roy Wimmer
A proud U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Roy continued his dedication and service to his fellow citizens as Mayor of Califon and President of the Hunterdon County of Mayors.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all those he loved and who loved him unconditionally in return.
To ensure your generosity and support are acknowledged - and to help protect you from future solicitations - Roy’s family has requested that memorial contributions be made through IN MEMORY OF to the following
St. Christopher's Hospital for Children
Founded in 1875 by Dr. William Bennet, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children was established as a charitable ambulatory pediatric clinic devoted to the children of the working class population of Kensington, Philadelphia, who were in desperate need of healthcare. From its humble beginnings, it continued to evolve in services specific for children, developing the first pediatric burn center between Boston and Washington, DC in the 1980’s and became the first hospital in the world to use oxygen-rich liquid ventilation to help critically ill, premature newborns to breathe. St. Christopher’s main campus is still located in Philadelphia, but it has developed pediatric programs at hospital providers throughout the Delaware Valley region.
All memorial donations made in honor of Roy will be directed specifically to the St. Chris Specialty Pediatrics at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Wounded Warrior Project
The Wounded Warrior Project aims to help injured service members aid and assist each other by providing unique, direct programs to meet their individual needs. Programs include: Combat Stress Recovery which addresses the mental health and cognitive needs of warriors returning from war; the Independence Program, designed for warriors who rely on their family or caregivers as a result of moderate-to-severe brain injury, spinal-cord injury, or other neurological conditions; Family Support; Transition Training; and the Warrior Care Network, connecting veterans to academic medical centers that can address undiagnosed and untreated mental health issues suffered from the travesty of war.
