The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was founded on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans and must be protected under the law. The organization, founded in 1866, was the first humane society established in North America and is dedicated to shaping a society that continuously improves the lives of animals.
Susan was a lover of animals, not only enjoying the seal lions at Fisherman’s Wharf, also as devoted caretaker of her dogs Fluffy, MacDuff, P.D., Daisy, Kaya, and Mabel over the years.
