Mary B Pellecchia
A long-time and active parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila Church in Summit and a devout Roman Catholic, Mary lived her life with her faith as her cornerstone. Her devotion to her family was equally deep and genuine. Her kindness and generosity of spirit were experienced by many and in this way, her gifts will live on.
To ensure your generosity and support are acknowledged - and to prevent you from future solicitations - Mary’s family has requested that memorial contributions be made through IN MEMORY OF to the following
Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad
Two Summit women, Sis Barker and Betty Bangs, who were members of the Junior League, decided to start a First Aid Squad in Summit. With the support of Overlook Hospital and local businesses, the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad was established in 1962. The Summit First Aid Squad today has over 90 active members and answers more than 2,000 calls for help each year. The technology, level of care, and training have increased significantly over their 50+ year history, but one thing that has not changed is their commitment to delivering quality patient care at no cost to the residents and visitors to Summit.
Lupus Foundation of America
The Lupus Foundation of America national research program, Bringing Down the Barriers, was created in 1977 and was the first private national lupus research program. By funding innovative studies and advancing the current state of research, early data provided pathways toward identifying people at highest risk for lupus and stopping the disease before it starts. As of today, the Lupus Foundation of America is the only national force devoted to improving the quality of life for all people affected by lupus through programs of research, education, support and advocacy and continues its mission to help eradicate this insidious disease.
