Captain Robert M. Mendez

 
 
 

A man truly dedicated to his country, Robert served with dignity and honor with the 108th Civil Engineer Squadron for the past 16 years.  He had been deployed to Al Udeid Air Base from September 2006 until November 2006, during Operation Iraqi Freedom, to Sather Air Base, Iraq from January 2010 until July 2010 during Operation Iraqi Freedom and to Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait from March 2014 until August 2014 during Operation Enduring Freedom. 

He was taken too soon and will be forever missed by those who were fortunate to have been a part of his life.

Fisher House Foundation

Initiated as an idea by Pauline Trost and funded by Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher, the Fisher House Foundation was created in 1990 to construct a network of comfortable homes, provided at no cost for families of hospitalized military personnel who were undergoing extensive medical treatments. Since that time, Fisher House Foundation has grown from 2 homes to 71 and has served more than 307,000 families and provided over 7 million days of lodging, saving them more than $200 million in lodging and transportation costs. In addition, the Foundation has provided has given over $18,000,000 in scholarship grants through its scholarship programs and its Operation Hero Miles program has provided more than 63,000 plane tickets to Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom wounded warriors and their families in need of travel.
