June Hurst

Hurst, June.jpg

June helped instill a love of learning for multiple generations of Brick Township children, sharing her gifts at the most fundamental and instrumental level of a child's development as a speech & language pathology teacher.

Inspiring curiosity and fostering learning, June embodied those same traits throughout her own life, whether through her travel, her craft classes or her flower shop. As an avid gardener with a myriad of interests, she continued to 'teach' well past retirement as she freely shared her wealth of knowledge with all those interested in learning.

Her devotion to children was innate, but never more so than with her own. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered as a joyful, compassionate and devoted

To ensure your generosity and support are acknowledged - and to help protect you from future solicitations - June’s family has requested that memorial contributions be made through IN MEMORY OF to the following

Heifer International

Heifer International empowers families to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity – but its approach goes beyond charity by linking communities and helping to bring sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty. The animals Heifer provides gives its partners both food and reliable income, as agricultural products such as milk, eggs and honey can be traded or sold at market. The core of the model is Passing on the Gift - meaning families share the training they receive, and pass on the first female offspring of their livestock to another family. This extends the impact of the original gift, allowing a once impoverished family to become fully engaged participants in improving their own communities.

St. Andrews United Methodist Church

As a long-time and active parishioner of the St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Toms River, June attended Bible Study every week and helped organize the Holiday Bazaar every year. Her kindness and generosity of spirit were experienced by many and in this way, her gifts will live on.
